Man Released Following Police Search

A man detained by police under the Terrorism Act in the Bushmills area of County Antrim has been released.

The 40-year-old was arrested on Wednesday after a police search in the area. He has now been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

A number of items were seized and taken away for further examination.

Chief Inspector Brenda Cairns, Area Commander for the area, said: "The priority of police in the Coleraine area is to keep the community safe and we will continue to use all means available to reduce and prevent criminality.

"Tackling criminality also requires the support of the public. We need information from communities. The small piece of information that you call police or Crimestoppers with may be the missing link in bringing persons involved in all types criminality before the courts."
