£20m Office Development Approved For Titanic Quarter
3,000 sq m of office space is to be built in Belfast's ever-expanding Titanic Quarter.
Construction work on the £20m development is expected to create about 2,000 jobs.
The two blocks of six and seven storeys will be located between Belfast Metropolitan College’s Titanic Quarter Campus and the Public Records Office for Northern Ireland. The proposal also includes over 14,000 sq m for research and development plus basement car parking, landscaping, access and associated site works at Queen’s Road.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan announced planning approval for the development today.
"The significant investment demonstrates a confidence in the local economy and will provide much needed high specification office accommodation within the city," he said. "Having this in place should help attract investment and encourage further job creation.
"This proposal will further enhance other significant development projects for Titanic Quarter that have already been approved by DOE Planning. The Titanic Signature Project; the new Public Records Office for Northern Ireland; the Belfast Metropolitan College; offices already used by Citigroup at the Titanic Quarter gateway site and hotel accommodation are all creating a vibrant hub in the City."
Belfast's Titanic Quarter is located on the eastern bank of the River Lagan. At 185 acres, the area is one of the largest urban waterfront regeneration schemes in Europe.

It would be a real disaster if the Titanic were to 'sink again'. That's the reason Belfast City Council is set to investing £10m of ratepayers' money to co-fund a Titanic tourist attraction. The aim is to ensure the £90m Titanic Signature Project will be built by 2012 - after it struggled to secure the final funding needed.
