Police Training College On Hold
Plans to build a new training college for the fire, police and prison services have been put on hold, following a statement from the Northern Ireland Community Safety College.
The project board met on Tuesday and decided to review the proposals to see if savings could be made. The process is likely to take at least eight weeks, whereupon it is expected the contract will be resubmitted for tender.
The development will be built by FGP Consortium, which comprises FCC Construction and local company Gilbert Ash.
A statement from the Northern Ireland Community Safety College said: "While this setback is very disappointing news, the Programme Board remains committed to the development of the Northern Ireland Community Safety College at Desertcreat to provide integrated training for the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
"The Programme Board has immediately begun a stocktake of the current situation and is actively exploring a number of options."
