Three Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Three people have been convicted at Craigavon Magistrates' court for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Miguel Alegre, 25, of Hanover Street, Portadown, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £6,024 while failing to declare employment. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
Lisa Lyness, 32, of Ennis Green, Lurgan, claimed Income Support totalling £1,582 while failing to declare employment. She was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £62.
Both are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
51-year-old Martin Bell of Liscorran Court, Lurgan, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £21,580 while failing to declare capital. He was given a two month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to pay court costs of £74.
Mr Bell has since repaid in full any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Woman Dies In Rathfriland Road Collision
A woman in her 80s has died following a two-vehicle crash in Rathfriland, County Down.
The collision involved a red Rover 100 car and a lorry and occurred on Downpatrick Street at about 12:30 on Tuesday.
Anyone who witnessed the crash has been asked to get in touch with the PSNI in Banbridge.

Olegas Solominas of Brookfield Mews, Dungannon, was found guilty of unauthorised entry of a several fishery. He was fined £30, with costs of £100, court costs of £19 and an offender levy of £15.
Christopher Johnston of Enniskeen, Craigavon, was found guilty of unauthorised entry of a several fishery. He was given an absolute discharge with an order to pay court costs of £100 and legal costs of £19.
Also in Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, Brian Johnston of in Drumellan Mews, Craigavon, was found guilty of unauthorised entry of a several fishery. He was given an absolute discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £100 and legal costs of £19.
RTC Victim Named
A woman who died following a two-vehicle road collision in Sixmilecross, County Tyrone, has been named as 84-year-old Bridget Mullin, who was from the area.
Ms Mullin died in hospital shortly after the collision on the Cloghfin Road, which occurred at about 18:00 on Tuesday.
A silver-coloured Volkswagen Jetta and a grey Seat Leon were involved in the incident at the junction of Whitebridge Road.
Ms Mullin was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

A dozen people have been caught fiddling the benefits' system in Northern Ireland. All have been identified on the Department of Social Development's (DSD) own website - a new development - and have had their details circulated to the local media in each of the areas concerned.
