New Mencap Childcare Facility Approved
Planning permission has been approved for a new purpose built childcare facility for Mencap NI in Newtownbreda, County Antrim.
The two storey building, located on School Road, will provide a ground floor nursery plus associated administration and meeting accommodation.
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan said: "This new Mencap community hub and childcare facility will provide care and therapy for children with learning disabilities or a developmental delay, and their families. The hub will also benefit the local community by offering accessible and flexible space for daytime and evening meetings and represents an invaluable community asset.
"This approval affirms my commitment to prioritise development proposals which bring infrastructural and social improvements. This application was turned around within six months which meets the Programme for Governments Target for Large Scale Investment and further demonstrates that planning reforms are taking effect."
DOE Planning processed the application under the Streamlined Scheme as agreed with Castlereagh Borough Council.
