Lord Ballyedmond Family The Wealthiest In NI

According to the Sunday Times rich list, the family of late businessman Lord Ballyedmond are the wealthiest people in Northern Ireland with an estimated fortune of £1.4bn up by the £540m last year.

The founder of the pharmaceutical firm, Norbrook Laboratories died earlier this year in a helicopter crash.

The Ballyedmonds are the second NI family to have been classified as billionaires after the Sean Quinn family, despite losing much of his fortune.

The major gainers are Paul and Jeremy Eakin who ranked in third position with a £310m fortune.

This year's Sunday Times list revealed that Britain's richest people have a combined fortune of £518.975bn, with a minimum of £85m needed to be considered for the rankings.
