Double boost for Dale Farm

Leading dairy company, Dale Farm was celebrating this week following the opening of a new £3 million milk evaporation facility and the announcement of £2 million cheese packing and whey processing investment at its new site.

The investment at the Dunmanbridge milk processing plant near Cookstown is set to safe-guard and enhance employment in the area.

Commenting on the news, Dale Farm Group Chief Executive, David Dobbin said: "These markets require a wider range of more sophisticated products and the new evaporator will extend Dale Farm's processing capabilities for milk powder products supplied to food ingredients customers.

"The planned investment in consumer cheese products, which is supported by the EU Agricultural Processing Marketing Grant Scheme, will bring the company's facilities to the leading edge of dairy processing and will grow Dale Farm's share of the retail and food service markets where quality, convenience and presentation are key to success."

The investment at Dunmanbridge is part of an on-going programme of fundamental developments within Dale Farm, aimed at fulfilling the Group's value added rapid growth strategy.

It follows the earlier announcement of a £4.5 million EU-backed investment in product and process research and development to be carried out at the purpose-built Technical Centre of Excellence at Pennybridge near Ballymena, due for completion later this summer.
