Driver Forced Off Road, County Down
A man has been forced off the road and had his car set on fire in the Saintfield area of County Down, it has been reported.
Police said the incident occurred about 20:00 on Tuesday evening when a grey Seat Leon car was struck from behind and forced off the Crossgar Road between Junction Road and School Road.
The driver was then threatened by two men and his car set alight.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Teenager Critical After Road Accident
A teenage girl is in a critical but stable condition after a road vehicle collision in the Crossgar area of County Down, police have said.
The girl was a passenger in the Renault Clio car when it left the Drumnaconagher Road at around 13:30 on Tuesday afternoon.
The male driver of the car, also a teenager, was treated for shock at the scene but police say he was uninjured.
No other vehicle was involved in the incident.
Belfast Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
Mark Thurrat, 43, of Ulsterville Avenue, Belfast, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £10,605 while failing to declare employment. He was given 150 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £68.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
£8.5m Invested In Coleraine Roads
£8.51m is being invested in the roads infrastructure in the Coleraine area.
Speaking ahead of yesterday evening's meeting between DRD and Coleraine Borough Council, Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: "The package of schemes includes the widening of the A29 Ring Road carriageway to provide two lanes in each direction; the signalisation of the existing access into ASDA; the signalisation of the Ring Road / Newmills Road junction; and the provision of a cycle / footway along the Ring Road between the two roundabouts to link to the existing provision. This significant investment of almost £1million will not only improve the capacity of the Lodge Road Roundabout but also enhance safety for all road users including pedestrians and cyclists on the A29 Ring Road between Lodge Road Roundabout and Ballycastle Road Roundabout."

A2 Bangor Ring Road Resurfaced
Work on a £125,000 resurfacing scheme at the Bloomfield Road Roundabout on the A2 Bangor Ring Road, Co Down will start next week. The work, carried out by the Department for Regional Development's (DRD) Roads Service, will begin on Monday 4 October 2010 and is scheduled for completion in seven weeks.
