Man Released Over Portstewart Murder
A man arrested in relation to the murder of 69-year-old Margaret Evans in Portstewart, County Londonderry, last week has been released from police custody but detained under the Mental Health Act.
The 32-year-old man had been detained by police following the news that Mrs Evans was found dead in her Knockancor Drive home on Wednesday afternoon.
It has been reported that police have been questioning one of the victim's sons.
Last week, Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings, the officer in charge of the investigation, asked "anyone in the community who saw, spoke to, or met with any member of the Evans family in recent days" to get in touch with the PSNI.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.
