Shots Fired In L'Derry's Bogside

A number of shots have been fired overnight in the Bogside area of L'Derry, it has been reported.

Police received reports that two masked men were spotted in the Dove Gardens shortly before midnight. It is thought that four shots were fired in the area.

SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey said: "This attack in the heart of the Bogside is unacceptable and intolerable. Thankfully no one was injured, but no matter what excuse or reason is put forward by the gunmen skulking around in the dead of night, there is no justification for this type of reckless action.

"The people of the Bogside don’t want it and the people of Derry don’t want it. What happened last night in Dove Gardens was a disgraceful and inexcusable act, and those responsible must stop now.”"
