£5m To Transform L'Derry Stadium
Derry City Council has announced a funding package of almost £5m to transform Brandywell stadium.
£4.9m is expected to be approved by the local authority's Development Committee on Friday, as part of the overall Foyle Gateway Brandywell and Daisyfield development scheme.
The total cost of the project is expected to be £8.8m, with additional funding secured from DCAL (£2m), OFMDFM (£1.75m) and Sport NI - (£150,000).
Officers Injured In Car Pursuit
Three police officers have been injured after pursuing a suspected stolen Audi A3 car that was involved in the attempted armed robbery of a shop in south Belfast.
The silver Audi, with three men inside, is reported to have been involved in the robbery bid at Lockview Road at about 20:00 on Sunday evening.
It has been reported that staff in the shop locked the doors of the premises, forcing two men, one of whom is reported to have been armed with a gun, to return to the car where the driver was still waiting.
At about 03:00 the following morning, a police pursuit was sparked in west Belfast, during which two patrol cars were damaged and the three officers were injured.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested in the Ardmoulin Street area on suspicion of attempted armed robbery, carrying a firearm with intent and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
Ardoyne Security Alert Sparked
A security alert has been sparked by the discovery of a suspect object on the roof of business premises in Ardoyne in north Belfast.
It was discovered at about 12:45 on Tuesday in the area known as Ardoyne shops.
It is understood that the army bomb squad has been sent to the scene.
A number of homes have been evacuated.
Newry Man Convicted Over Benefit Fraud
A Newry man has been convicted at Dungannon Crown Court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
57-year-old John Donaghy of Springfarm Heights, Newry claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £17,585 while failing to declare capital. He was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for three years.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

A man, armed with a hammer, entered the premises and threatened a female member of staff. He made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes.
