Local Firm Secures Rathlin Ferry Contract
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has revealed that Rathlin Island Ferry Limited (RIFL) has won a contract to operate a ferry service between the Island and Ballycastle.
Minister Kennedy said: "I congratulate Rathlin Island Ferry Limited on their successful bid that now sees the company secure the ferry operation until 2016.
"The local company has provided an excellent service to Islanders and visitors for over six years. I am especially pleased for those living on Rathlin who can now expect that same reliable and high quality service to continue uninterrupted."
RIFL will retain the contract for a period of two years before a new ferry is introduced which will be operated by the Department for Regional Development. The new ferry is expected to be ready for operation in late 2016.

As a scenic cross border transport link remains in jeopardy, a Coleraine Sinn Féin councillor has urged NI Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster to take action to save the ferry. Billy Leonard wants the DUP Minister to play her part along with other Stormont Executive colleagues to save the Magilligan ferry service to Greencastle.

Rathlin Express Launched
Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy has officially launched the new high-speed Rathlin Island ferry - the Rathlin Express - today. The ferry is a 17-metre, twin engine, double-deck catamaran with a passenger capacity of almost 100. It can complete the crossing in 20 minutes.

Health Minister Praises Community Staff On Rathlin Island
Health Minister Robin Swann has praised the work of health and social care staff, firefighters and community representatives who support residents of Rathlin Island. The Minister visited the island where he met members of the Rathlin Development & Community Association (RDCA) as well as the local nursing team and volunteer firefighters.
