Lord Mayor meets child sex abuse representatives
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Martin Morgan, has met with representatives of victims of child sex abuse.
The Lord Mayor met members of new pressure group, 'Breaking The Silence’, to hear of their plans of securing changes to the present judicial system for victims
The group briefed the Lord Mayor on its plans to raise awareness of the scale and impact of child sex abuse on the lives of children and young people.
Mr Morgan also heard about the group’s proposals for campaigns on a variety of issues to protect children and young people, plans for a support network for adult and child survivors of sexual abuse, and proposals to fund research development and information for public notification.
‘Breaking The Silence’, which is a non-political, non-sectarian group, says intends to lobby government ministers and other policy makers on a variety of issues, with the aim of securing change in the present judicial system.

Three Released Over Historical Child Abuse Allegations
Three people arrested in connection with historical child abuse allegations in Co Down have been released pending further enquiries. Two men and a woman were detained by police in the Ballynahinch and Killyleagh areas on Tuesday, 27 March. They were questioned at Antrim Serious Crime Suite and have been released.

Police 'Cleared' On Donegal Child Abuse Case
The Irish Republic's Minister for Justice has received preliminary information from An Garda Síochána regarding a child abuse case in Donegal. It appears to clear the Garda of blame on the continued employment of a former caretaker at the school in Donegal despite his conviction for child abuse.
