Gun Attack On Police Vehicle In L'Derry

A gunman has opened fire on a police patrol car in Co Londonderry in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The patrol car was travelling on Westland Street in the Bogside area of the city when the incident happened. No one was injured in the attack, which has been described as "totally reckless".

Police say an investigation is underway.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

TWO elderly Protestant sisters have escaped injury after a petrol bomb attack on their East Belfast home. The women, aged 73 and 79, escaped injury after a passing police patrol discovered a fire at their home and forced their way into the house in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Breeze Block Dropped On Police Car From Block Of Flats
Police have issued an appeal for information after a breeze block was thrown from a high-rise flat on to the roof of a patrol car. The "deliberate and reckless attack" occurred at Churchill House in the New Lodge shortly before 9pm on Tuesday 24 August.

Police link hostage incident to attack on police station
Police have linked a gun attack on a police station on Wednesday night with a hostage incident in Co Antrim. A van used in the shooting of Randalstown PSNI station on Wednesday evening is believed to have been the vehicle stolen earlier in the evening from a family who were held hostage by a gang of men at a house in Craigstown Road in the town.

Man Shot In Co L'Derry
A man has been shot in the ankle in Co L'Derry. The paramilitary-style attack happened near the Creggan shops at around 7.45pm on Thursday, 07 December. The 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police described the shooting as "brutal and horrific".
