Driver Killed In Fermanagh Rally
A rally driver has been killed in a crash while taking part in the Ulster Rally in County Fermanagh on Friday 15 August.
22-year-old Timothy Cathcart's car left the road and crashed near Fivemiletown. Mr Cathcart's co-driver Dai Roberts, who is from Wales, was also injured in the crash but is in a stable condition in hospital.
Mr Cathcart was from Enniskillen in County Fermanagh,
The two-day event, which is part of the British Rally Championship, was cancelled in the wake of Mr Cathcart's death.
Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said: "I am shocked to learn of the death of a Enniskillen driver Timothy Cathcart while competing in the Ulster Rally in Fermanagh. It is a tragedy when any sportsman loses their life in competition.
"I trust rally organisers will cooperate fully with the authorities in the investigation of this accident. My thoughts are with the family and friends of Timothy at this time. I am also thinking of the co-driver Dai Roberts who has been taken to hospital and wish him a full and speedy recovery from his injuries."

Although there's no super, high profile Belfast launch at Stormont this year, Rally Ireland 2009 will start instead in the lakelands of Fermanagh. January 29 will mark the revised ceremonial start of Rally Ireland 2009, which takes place in Enniskillen and the event proper will begin the following morning with the first stage in Cavan.

Co Fermanagh Man Dies In Sligo Rally Crash
Two drivers have died in a crash in a County Sligo rally. Daire Maguire from County Fermanagh and Gene McDonald were killed when the car they were racing in hit a wall in Ballymote at around 3pm on Sunday, 16 July. The incident happened during the sixth stage of the Sligo Stages Rally. No other car was involved.
