Goods Driver Fined For Transport Offences
A goods vehicle driver has been fined £250 for transport offences.
Kieran Frances Coleman, 46, of Old Portadown Road, Lurgan, was fined a total of £250 at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday.
On 9 November 2013 at Dargan Road, Belfast, DVA Enforcement Officers stopped a large goods vehicle that was owned and operated by McMullan International, Portadown.
The vehicle, which was driven by Mr Coleman, failed to remain at the check site, against the orders of a Vehicle Examiner who was then unable to complete his safety checks.
Mr Coleman was fined a total of £250 on two charges relating to failing to use a digital tachograph card and obstructing a Vehicle Examiner in the course of his duty.
Man Convicted Of £20,000 Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
33-year-old Conor Fox of Brooke Close, Belfast claimed Jobseekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Carers Allowance, Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £19,317 while failing to declare employment. He was given 200 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £201.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Four Convicted Of Fisheries Offences
Four men have been convicted of fisheries offences at Lisburn Court.
Thomas Downey from Rushmore Grove, Lisburn was convicted of unlicenced angling and impeding a person exercising his powers.
He was fined a total of £200 with a £15 offender levy, costs of £75 and £15 court costs.
At the same court, Vitalij Furmaniuk from Warren Park, Lisburn was convicted of unlicenced angling, failure to give his own name and address and impeding a person exercising his powers.
He was fined a total of £250 with a £15 offender levy, costs of £75 and £19 court costs.
Both men committed the offences on Begney Lough in Dromara.
At the same court, James Logan from The Rosses, Kinsale Park, L'Derry was convicted of unlicenced angling and trespass on a fishery.
The offence occurred on Broadwater Canal. He was fined a total of £100 with a £15 offender levy, costs of £75 and £76 court costs.
At the same court, Samuel Savage from Millvale, Lisburn was convicted of unlicenced angling.
The offence occurred on Begney Lough, Dromara. He was fined a total of £75 with a £15 offender levy, costs of £75 and £57 court costs.
Man Released Over Cookstown Attack
A 37-year-old man arrested as part of investigations into an attack on a driver in Cookstown, County Tyrone, has been released.
Police were called by paramedics to a report of a 34-year-old man who was having a fit on Orritor Street at about 15:35pm on Saturday.
It is understood the man had been involved in an argument with another driver, and that the other driver had punched the victim, causing him to lose consciousness.
The man who was detained on Tuesday has been released pending further police enquiries.

Street Drinkers Pay The Cost
Five people have been fined at Belfast Magistrates Court for drinking alcohol in public. Tyrone McCann, from Richmond Avenue in Newtownabbey, was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £66 after he was detected drinking alcohol at Suffolk Road in west Belfast on January 16.

He was fined £500 and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
