Two Arrested Over Strabane Shooting
Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Strabane, Co Tyrone.
The shooting occurred in the Ballycolman Estate at around 7pm on Thursday evening.
A man, said to be aged 28, was injured in the attack. He was taken to hospital with two gunshot wounds to his left foot, and one to his right leg.
Police have said the two men, aged 20 and 29, were arrested on Friday morning and have been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
SDLP Councillor, Patsy Kelly, described the shooting as "barbaric".
He said: "Once again those intent on violence have brought pain and misery to Strabane. The shooting of a man in the Ballycolman area in what appears to be a 'punishment style' attack is nothing short of barbaric. Those behind it have set themselves up as judge, jury and executioner with no regard for this man, his family or the wider community.
"It is utterly deplorable that in this day and age we still have gunmen serving their brand of rough justice on our streets. They have no right to walk all over this community and we cannot allow it to continue."
Anyone who witnessed the attack, or who has any information, is asked to contact police.
