Titanic Quarter Businesses Win First WorldHost Award
Businesses in Belfast's Titanic Quarter are celebrating being awarded the city’s first WorldHost Tourism Hotspot.
The organisations that shared the award include Titanic Belfast, SS Nomadic, The Dock Café, T13, Cable & Wake, Segway Tours NI, Odyssey Arena, W5, Lagan Boat Company, Titanic’s Dock & Pump-House, The Streat at Odyssey, Ocean Youth Trust, Titanic Tours, Odyssey Pavilion, Titanic Quarter Limited and Titanic Foundation Limited.
The WorldHost programme is being rolled out in Northern Ireland by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board in partnership with sector skills council, People 1st, and the Department for Employment and Learning.
Maeve Curran, Titanic Foundation’s Destination Manager, said: "As a destination we are incredibly proud to have achieved WorldHost Hotspot status. When customers see the WorldHost logo displayed in the TQ businesses, they’ll know that we have made a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for them. Not only does this generate a positive buzz about the service we offer, but it helps to promote Titanic Quarter as a friendly World class tourist destination."
She added: "The celebrations also tie in nicely to mark the re-launch of the Discovery Point at Titanic Belfast, with over 600,000 visitors a year to Titanic Belfast the Point will provide motivational and inspiring information, encouraging visitors to explore more of Titanic Quarter attractions, Belfast City & Greater Belfast and of Northern Ireland."
Carolyn Boyd, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Industry Development Manager, said: "The WorldHost Tourism Hotspot accolade is a very well-deserved achievement for all the hugely successful businesses at Titanic Quarter and is testament to their collective commitment to increase levels of customer service. I am delighted that through the WorldHost programme a whole new momentum in customer service has gathered within the tourism sector which is providing not just a great environment, but also creating the right platform for quality visitor experiences, recommendations, repeat business and continued growth."
Lord Mayor, Nichola Mallon added: "Belfast City Council is delighted to see attractions and businesses all across the city getting behind our aspiration, supported by the ERDF-funded Destination Belfast programme, to be a WorldHost Recognised City Destination and show that we are a city committed to excellence in service to both our citizens and our visitors alike. The Discovery Point, along with all the companies who have gained WorldHost recognition in the Titanic Quarter, will ensure that a visit to this part of Belfast will be a wonderful experience for our visitors."

It is now just 100 days until the official opening of Titanic Belfast, the world’s largest Titanic visitor attraction. Work on the internal fit-out of the iconic six-floor building in Titanic Quarter, Northern Ireland’s largest ever tourism project, is ahead of schedule and will be completed ahead of the official opening on 31st March, 2012.

Lifeline Thrown To Sinking Titanic
It would be a real disaster if the Titanic were to 'sink again'. That's the reason Belfast City Council is set to investing £10m of ratepayers' money to co-fund a Titanic tourist attraction. The aim is to ensure the £90m Titanic Signature Project will be built by 2012 - after it struggled to secure the final funding needed.

Titanic Celebration Ready For Launch
The City of Belfast is again preparing to commemorate and celebrate the world's most famous ocean liner, the RMS Titanic. The ninth annual 'Titanic Made in Belfast' festival - organised by Belfast City Council - begins this Saturday, and continues until Sunday 11 April, with tickets for various events now available at the Belfast Welcome Centre.
