Rise In NI Health Care Complaints
The Patient and Client Council has seen "a significant rise" in the number of people looking for help with complaining about Health and Social Care services, according to a new report.
Launching the Council's Annual Complaints Report today, Head of Operations Louise Skelly said: "In the past year 1,935 people used our complaints support service and 1,143 of those people were supported through a formal complaints process. As a result, many issues have been resolved and lessons learned.
"The report shows that many of the issues people complain about remain the same each year. People complain about treatment and care, communication, staff attitude and waiting times. Some people find the process of complaining long and difficult. There is also a fear of making a complaint, particularly for people who are still using the services."
