Unions To Meet Executive Over Gallaher's Closure
The Northern Ireland Executive is to meet union representatives of JTI Gallaher's to discuss the closure of the Ballymena factory.
It follows the announcement on Tuesday that the Antrim factory will close with the loss of almost 900 jobs over the next two years.
It is understood that workers at the factory are to be briefed by management today (8 October), where it is claimed they will be allowed to apply for time off to deal with the closure announcement.
According to a report by UTV, Ian Paisley Jnr has said that union representatives are to meet with the executive to discuss ways of minimising the impact of the job losses.

Arlene Foster and Stephen Farry have held talks with representatives of JTI Gallaher, in what has been described as a "useful" meeting. Ms Foster, Enterprise Minister, said that the meeting was held in an effort to find any way to avoid "the complete closure" of the Ballymena-based factory.
