Cycle Seminar Urges Public To 'Change Gear'
The public is being encouraged to take up cycling through a seminar entitled 'Changing Gear' that is taking place in Belfast this week.
A range of speakers will be sharing their cycling expertise and experiences at the event on 16 October, including: Klaus Bondam from Danish Cyclists Federation, Brian Deegan from Transport for London and Ola Gustafsson from Gehl Architects, Copenhagen.
Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: "Cycling is everywhere in Northern Ireland with more people taking to their bikes to commute to work, for shopping and leisure or for exercise. We must seize the momentum and help create a society where everyday cycling is the norm and where cycling is an attractive, accessible and safe option."
The seminar is being held in The Assembly Buildings Conference Centre at The Spires in Belfast city centre.
Minister Kennedy added: "This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is interested in cycling and wants to learn more, to hear from speakers such as Klaus Bondam whose knowledge and enthusiasm is truly inspiring.
"Now is the time to harness our interest in cycling and explore possibilities to transform Northern Ireland into a modern, vibrant, healthy cycling society."
