DPP Announces Review Of Maíria Cahill Case
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Barra McGrory QC, has announced a review of three cases linked to the alleged rape of Maíria Cahill.
Ms Cahill has claimed that she was raped in 1997 by an IRA member, and later subjected to an interrogation about the incident by the IRA.
Her accused was later acquitted in court when Ms Cahill withdrew her allegations.
Mr McGrory has now announced that he believes the processes and procedures of the case need "independent external scrutiny".
