Four Arrests Follow Assault Rifle Discovery
Police have arrested four men after an assault rifle and ammunition were discovered in a vehicle in Belfast.
The men were detained and have been taken to Antrim police station for questioning. The arrests have been made in relation to dissident republican activity.
A 29-year-old man was arrested when police stopped his vehicle on the Grosvenor Road on Thursday. A subsequent security operation took place in the area.
In a follow up police operation, officers arrested three men, aged 27, 29 and 46, in the Springfield Road area of west Belfast.
Roads around the Westlink were closed for a time on Thursday evening as army bomb experts examined the vehicle, but have since reopened.

Number Of Roads Remain Closed Following Storm Ali

Petrol Bomb Thrown At Police Vehicle In Co Antrim
Two masked men threw a petrol bomb at a police vehicle in Co Antrim. The attack happened in the Castlemara Drive area in Carrickfergus at around 2.20am on Sunday, 29 May. The bomb hit the vehicle, however no damage was caused. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
