NI Water Dispute Suspended

Industrial action at Northern Ireland Water (NIW) has been suspended after union representatives agreed to consider a final offer by the firm.

In a statement Nipsa said: "We are pleased to say that union representatives have in the mean time agreed that the industrial action can be suspended to allow for this consultation with our members to take place.

"Until such times as we can begin the consultation we will not be sharing any further detail with the media however we are aiming to provide the full detailed offer to union members as soon as possible."

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: "This is positive news for the public, especially those in the West who have experienced significant disruption to their water supply.

"The Unions will now have to ballot their members and NI Water will work on the business cases to secure the relevant approvals.

"I want to thank the Labour Relations Agency for the important role they have played in these negotiations between the Trade Unions and NI Water management."
