Tesco To Close Three NI Stores
Tesco has confirmed it is to close three of its stores in Northern Ireland.
The announcement comes just weeks after the supermarket chain said it was no longer continuing with plans to build two new stores in the region.
The retailer had planning permission for a supermarket in Carryduff, Co Down, as well as a store in Armagh.
In a statement released on Wednesday (28 January), Tesco confirmed it will now close three of its NI stores. They include an outlet at Connswater, its Cregagh Road store in east Belfast and its premises on Church Street, Ballymena.
It is understood they will close in the coming months.
Up to 170 jobs are at risk with the closures, which are included in 43 "unprofitable stores" being closed by the retailer throughout the UK.
