Elderly Man Has Knife Held To Throat
A 95-year-old man has been left shaken in Glengormley after his house was broken into and he had a knife held to his throat.
Walter Bryans was alone in his home when robbers tricked their way into the property and ransacked the house in search for money.
The attackers then held a knife to Mr Bryans's throat.
SDLP Glengormley Urban councillor Noreen McClelland said: "This was a cowardly and despicable attack on one of the most vulnerable members of our community. It is sickening to think that these thugs targeted Mr Bryans because of his vulnerability as a disabled older person living alone.
"They displayed no humanity in subjecting him to this horrifying ordeal and demonstrated utter depravity by holding a knife to his throat."
Alliance Councillor John Blair said: "This is absolutely devastating for this man, his family and friends and I must condemn the thugs who orchestrated it. Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure in their own home. This callous and brutal attack should never have happened.
"My thoughts are with the victim as he continues to recover and I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible to ensure those responsible are removed from the streets immediately."
