55 New Jobs At Killinchy Food Company
55 new jobs have been announced at Willowbrook Fine Foods in Killinchy, County Down.
The news follows a £2.3m investment by the company.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: "This is important investment by Willowbrook Fine Foods in the development of a portfolio of premium ready meals and meal accompaniments aimed principally at markets outside Northern Ireland. Marketed extensively under the Willowbrook Fine Foods brand it is a welcome addition to Northern Ireland’s developing range of branded foods.
"This development also represents a significant boost for Northern Ireland’s £4.5billion food and drink industry offering worthwhile employment opportunities in the Killinchy and wider Co Down areas. In addition to employment in processing, there will be 16 senior posts in management and marketing. Overall, the 55 new jobs, which will be in place over the next three years, will have an average salary of around £19,000."
Invest Northern Ireland has supported the investment with assistance of £192,500 through their Jobs Fund.

A family-owned fast food restaurant from the Republic of Ireland is to create around 200 jobs by opening a number of outlets in Northern Ireland. Supermac's, who currently own 80 restaurants in the south, are to invest around £10 million in acquiring a number of sites on which they can build new businesses.

The announcement was made by Invest NI Chief Executive Alastair Hamilton during visits to Axa Insurance, Fresh Food Kitchen and One Stop Data, all based in Londonderry.

Minister announces NI food strategy group
Agriculture Minister, Ian Pearson today announced plans to set up an expert group to recommend a long term plan for the development of the food sector in Northern Ireland. The group, which will be announced shortly, will be made up of senior expert figures from different parts of the food chain and also include consumer interests.

250 jobs created by M&S Simply Food
Up to 250 jobs could be created following the decision by Marks & Spencer to roll out its new Simply Food format in 10 sites across the province. It is expected that three sites will be located in Greater Belfast with the remainder on high streets in larger provincial towns. Each site should net around 25 jobs each.
