Budget Energy Becomes First NI Firm To Cut Prices
Budget Energy has announced a 5% price cut for customers, making it the first in Northern Ireland to do so.
The Consumer Council said the L'Derry-based electricity company's price cuts would amount to a £32 saving per year for its 60,000 customers.
The news follows a drop in the price of a barrel of oil from around $115 to a recent low of below $50.
A spokesperson for Budget Energy said: "Budget Energy is pleased to announce that due to recent cost savings in the business, we are happy to pass on savings to our existing and new domestic customer customers of 5% from March 10 2015.
"We strive as a company to drive our business forward on what we know the Northern Irish electricity consumer wants - value for money and a top-class customer service, a fair price and the highest level of customer support."

SSE And Budget Energy Announce Price Increases
SSE and Budget Energy have both announced an increase in their Northern Irish electricity prices, affecting some 248,000 domestic customers. According to reports, Budget Energy prices will increase by 27% from 27 May, while SSE prices will rise by 33% from 01 June.
