Man Fined £30k Over Planning Non-Compliance
A man from Newry, County Down, has been fined £30,000 at Newry Magistrates' Court for non-compliance with a Department of the Environment Planning Enforcement Notice.
Mr Francis McGuiness of Newtown Road, Cloughoge, Newry was found guilty and must also pay £805 in legal costs and £15 court costs.
An enforcement notice required the appellant to demolish the building at the rear of 43 Newtown Road, Cloughoge, Newry and area of concrete hardstanding in question.
He was also required to remove resulting rubble and reinstate the area by covering it in topsoil and sowing in grass seed.

Attwood Apologises Over IRA Victims Memorial Letter
Environment Minister Alex Attwood has apologised publicly after the Department of the Environment sent a letter requesting the removal of a memorial to IRA murder victims. The County Armagh memorial is in memory of the ten Protestant workmen who were murdered by the IRA in the 1976 Kingsmills massacre.

£250k Resurfacing Announced For Newry Road
A major £250,000 road resurfacing scheme has been announced for the A25 Newry Road. The works will comprise of approximately 0.65km of carriageway resurfacing of the A25 Newry Road through Camlough village, from south of the U1583, known as Hall Road, to just beyond C217 Chapel Road roundabout.

Man Charged Over Banbridge Murder
A man charged with the murder of another man found dead in Banbridge is to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court today, 13 July. The body of 55-year-old Richard Gerard Scullion was found at a property in the Millmount Court area on Monday, 09 July. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
