Three people escape house fire

Two women and a man have escaped injury following a house fire in Co Antrim early this morning.

Police believe the fire at the house in Dunclug Gardens, Ballymena may have been started maliciously.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the blaze shortly after 1am when smoke was seen billowing from a kitchen window. It is believed the fire started close by.

The two women were treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews who attended the scene.

NIFRS Launches Online Home Fire Safety Check Tool
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

NIFRS Renews Smoke Alarm Plea
Home owners are being reminded of the need to have a working smoke alarm following two fatal house fires in December. The NIFRS emphasised the need to prioritise fire safety in the home after two accidental blazes occured at premises without working smoke alarms.

Man dies in Fermanagh house fire
A man has died following a house fire in County Fermanagh. The body was discovered in his home at Camphill Park in Newtownbutler just before 4am on Friday morning. It is believed the fire started in the front room of the house.
