Elderly woman confronted by knifeman
An elderly woman was recovering today after an armed man confronted her in her north Belfast home yesterday.
The 94-year-old was alone in her Knutsford Drive home when the intruder walked in through an open door, laid a knife on a nearby chair, spoke to her, then went upstairs.
The man, who made no demands, then later left without taking anything.
The man is described as being in his 30s and of slim build.
The woman was uninjured during the incident but was left shocked and shaken.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the Knusford Drive area between 4pm and 5pm on Wednesday.

A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.

Man arrested after woman dies in collision
A 61-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road accident in County Down. A woman, believed to be in her 50s, was hit by a vehicle on the Comber Road in Newtownards at about 9.45pm last night. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Three men in court over carjacking
Three men were due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court today in connection with the hijacking of a car on the outskirts of Belfast. A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man will be charged with hijacking, while a 21-year-old man will be charged with aiding and abetting the hijacking.

A woman has been arrested following the sudden death of a man in Magherafelt. A 46-year-old man died in L'Derry in the early hours of Tuesday, 05 December. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.
