Body Recovered From River Lagan
A body has been recovered from the River Lagan, near the Titanic Quarter in Belfast.
The body was discovered by police at around noon today, Friday.
A formal identification is due to be carried out, police have confirmed.
It is not being treated as suspicious.
No further details have been released.
Concern Over Sewer Improvement Works On Mersey Street
East Belfast DUP Councillor Gavin Robinson has expressed concern that storm sewer improvement works on Mersey Street are to be extended, meaning that the road will now be closed until the end of December.
Initially the work was envisaged to be complete by the end of May.
Mr Robinson said: "The work being carried out on Mersey Street is necessary and welcome. Given that the work was due to be completed within a few weeks it is very concerning that Northern Ireland Water has now informed residents that it is going to take an extra six months. Most people would also have thought that such an announcement could have been made earlier, instead of just six weeks before the initial completion date.
"The closure of Mersey Street not only impacts on the local residents, but is has an effect on traffic flows across a large part of East Belfast. I have requested a meeting with the project sponsor and will be seeking to establish whether it is possible to make up any time during the remaining six months."
Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at L'Derry Magistrates Court.
Paul McLaughlin of Joseph Place, L'Derry, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £10,351 while failing to declare capital. He was given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay court costs of £31.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Homes Welcomed On Site Of MP's School
East Belfast MP Naomi Long and Chris Lyttle MLA have welcomed the official opening of a new £5m housing development on the site of the former Mersey Street Primary School. The listed building has been transformed by Connswater Homes into 30 state of the art family apartments with many of its original features remaining intact.
