Queen's To Host Charlie Hebdo Seminar

Queen's University has reversed its previous decision not to host a seminar on Charlie Hebdo this summer.

Ulster Unionist Party Leader Mike Nesbitt MLA welcomed the decision and said it is a "common sense move".

Mr Nesbitt said: "It is important that an organisation which enjoys such international renown as Queen’s should be seen to stand up for the promotion of freedom of speech, a key component of any democracy.

"I also welcome the fact that Queen’s has shown the corporate courage to tackle sensitive and controversial and potentially divisive issues."

DCAL Minister Has Serious Questions To Answer Over Casement Park - DUP

The DUP's Chairman of the Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee Nelson McCausland has said the DCAL Minister has serious questions to answer regarding the process for the redevelopment of Casement Park.

Mr McCausland said: "The explosive evidence at today’s DCAL Committee leaves serious questions for the DCAL Minister and about the process.

"It is not remotely satisfactory for the Minister to announce a simple 'review' in the aftermath of Mr Scott's evidence. Why is the Minister only acting now and why did this man feel that he was being gagged and sidelined on a matter that is life and death? To that end, we will seek to call a special Committee meeting at the earliest convenience where the DCAL Minister can address these serious allegations."
