Woman And Rider Critical But Stable Following Crash At North West 200

A woman and a motorbike rider are in critical but stable conditions in hospital following a collision at the North West 200 in Portstewart on Saturday.

The crash occurred on the section of the course between York Corner and Mill Road roundabout during the second lap of the Superstock race.

A woman spectator was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital where her condition is described as critical but stable.

Rider Stephen Thompson is also in a critical condition and Horst Saiger received minor injuries. Thompson has also been transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital, according to a spokesperson for the event.

Woman Critical Following Serious Road Crash In Co Down
A woman is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious road crash in Co Down. The collision occurred on the A1 between Dromore and Hillsborough at around 3.30am on Sunday, 09 October. She is currently being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The road has been closed in both directions.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Woman 'Stable' After Falling From Cliff At Cavehill
A 20-year-old woman is in a stable condition in hospital after she fell from a cliff at Cavehill in Belfast. Emergency services attended the scene after the woman is believed to have fell from Napoleon's Nose on Wednesday, 23 November. It is understood the alarm was raised at around 2.30pm.
