SDLP Hits Out At PSNI Resources Used Over Irish Tricolour Issue
The SDLP has hit out at the PSNI after it was revealed that seven detectives interviewed workers in Stormont over the flying of the Irish Tricolour at the Parliament Buildings last week.
East Derry MLA John Dallat criticised the amount of police resources dealing with the issue and said the revelations are "both laughable and lamentable".
Mr Dallat said: "I have been told that there were seven detectives interviewing workers with an additional three constables bringing in individuals to be interviewed in three locations in the building.
"This morning I have been told that security staff has been given instructions to scan workers to intercept any other flags which might be weaving their way onto the roof of Parliament buildings.
"With serious crime on the increase, hundreds of murders unsolved across the North and harsh public sector cuts being implemented on the PSNI, having seven detectives tied up investigating a flag is scandalous."

Assembly Member John Dallat MLA said the arrangement for flying flags at the Assembly should be upheld, however he has called on other members to retain a sense of perspective.
