Health authorities look for E.coli source at nursery
The Northern Health Board has said it is working towards finding the source of an E.coli 0157 outbreak which has infected nine children at a nursery in Antrim.
Laura's Lodge Day Nursery closed voluntarily last Thursday following advice from Environmental Health Officers and the Northern Health Board.
Sixty children and staff have already been screened for the bacterial illness which has a range of symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea.
Children and the elderly are especially vulnerable to that strain of the infection, which has seen the number of cases in the UK triple over the last decade.
A clean-up operation is currently under way at the Station Road crèche and the source of the infection is being sought.

Source Of Nursery E-coli Outbreak 'Unclear'
The source of an outbreak of the E-coli bug at a Lurgan nursery is still unknown. The Public Health Agency is continuing to investigate the outbreak at Holly House in Dollingstown, which has so far affected twelve toddlers. The PHA confirmed that none of the children has been seriously ill.

Antrim E.coli oubreak rises to 12
The number of people suffering from the E.coli 0157 bug in Antrim has risen to 12. The latest victims are believed to be relatives of children from Laura's Lodge day nursery where the outbreak was first detected.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.
