Residents Return To Homes After Security Alert In North Belfast Ends

Residents have returned to their homes following a security alert in north Belfast.

A suspicious object was discovered at the junction of North Queen Street and Brougham Street on Tuesday, however it was found to be 'nothing untoward'.

Army bomb experts examined the object on Tuesday evening.

A number of homes had to be evacuated and roads were closed during the alert.

All roads have now been reopened.

Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Hundreds Of New Homes To Be Developed In Co Down
Approximately 50 construction jobs are to be created as part of a £50million project to develop 900 new homes in Comber, Co Down. Northern Ireland homebuilders Hagan Homes has started construction work on the first phase of the 'Enler Village' site on the Newtownards Road, which includes the development of 17 new homes.

Security Alert In North Belfast Was An 'Elaborate Hoax'
A security alert in north Belfast was an "elaborate hoax", according to the police. A number of families had to be evacuated from their homes on Monday night at around 11pm, after a suspicious object was found in the Antrim Road area of the city. The families returned to their homes at around 3am on Tuesday.

Security Alert In North Belfast
A viable device has been found during a security alert in north Belfast. The PSNI said officers were sent to Spamount Street in the New Lodge area on Wednesday morning after a suspicious object was found. An army bomb squad arrived of the scene and confirmed it was 'viable'. The alert ended at around 13:30.
