Increase In Overall Pass Rate In A And AS Level Results
There has been an increase in the overall pass rate in students receiving A and AS Levels results in Northern Ireland.
Education Minister John O'Dowd congratulated the thousands of young people on their achievements.
Mr O'Dowd said: "This year we have seen an increase in A level entries which is encouraging and I am delighted that Maths has topped the poll as the most popular subject with A level students.
"Employers continue to tell us about the growing need for students with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects and this year entries in these subjects from female students have increased considerably.
"Seeing the relevance of course choices for the future is vital in keeping young people engaged and motivated to achieve and the Entitlement Framework has opened up the choices available to pupils sitting A levels. Our young people have performed well and I wish them well in their next step.
"For other young people, today's results will not be what they had hoped and I would encourage them not to be disheartened. The pathways through study and training to employment are not the same for everyone, and help and advice is available. Teachers, careers advisers and parents can offer good advice and support on the options available to you."

Human Trafficking Strategy Launched
The Justice Minister has announced a new strategy to deal with human trafficking in Northern Ireland. David Ford made the announcement today, on EU Anti-Trafficking Day. The new group is intended to improve engagement between non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the Department of Justice, the PSNI and the Health and Social Care Sector.

NI's Education Minister Michelle McIlveen has congratulated A level and AS level students as they receive their results today, while also acknowledging the exceptional circumstances in which they have been awarded. The percentage of students receiving the highest grades continued to increase, with 50.

Rise In Number Of GCSE Students Achieving A*- C Grades
There has been a significant increase in the number of GCSE students achieving the A*- C grades. The proportion of entries awarded A* - C grades has risen by 0.7% this year to 78.7% Education Minister, John O'Dowd, congratulated the students and said they should be proud of all their hard work.

Northern Ireland students have outperformed their peers in England and Wales in both A-level and the new AS level exams. Figures released by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) on Thursday August 16 show a record 48,000 grades have been issued to Northern Ireland students across all exam boards.
