Minister Launches Jobs Week 2015
Hundreds of events are to take place across the State as part of Jobs Week 2015, aimed at helping both job seekers and employers.
The Tánaiste and the Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton T.D., and the Minister of State, Kevin Humphreys have announced Jobs Week 2015, which will take place from 28 September to 02 October.
The Dublin flagship event will be the Intreo Careers Fair which will take place in The Printworks in Dublin Castle on 29 September where:
• Up to 50 employers with job vacancies will exhibit at the event along with some training providers
• Workshops on topics relevant to jobseekers such as how to make the most of your job search, CV preparation tips, interview techniques (including competency-based interviews), starting up a business and using social media for job hunting
• One-to-one job coaching tailored to meet individual specific job seeking needs will be conducted by volunteer professionals from various sectors
Urging all jobseekers and employers in every county to get involved in Jobs Week, Tánaiste Burton said: "The Intreo Careers Fair is only a sample of the events taking place. Across the country a multitude of activities will take place, from Cork to Donegal, from Galway to Dublin and all points in between.
"These events include Job Fairs, information sessions for job seekers on upskilling opportunities and careers, career advice workshops covering CV preparation, interview techniques and job shadowing provided by employers in their companies. These kinds of opportunities will give jobseekers an edge when they go to apply for jobs."
Minister Humphreys added: "I would urge all employers and jobseekers to check out the events that are taking place in your area and go along to at least one of them. There will be a vast range of knowledge and supports available at every event and there will also be an opportunity for you to speak with people for career advice and guidance."
A series of nationwide events are planned for employers as well, including:
• The EURES/Northern Ireland Cross Border Speed Networking event for employers in Bellingham Castle in Co Louth where information will be provided for employers on all employer and business supports available;
• A networking event for graduates with employers and job coaches in both Dublin and Kilkenny;
• An Enterprise Support event for self-employed / small enterprises in Mullingar;
• Open evenings for employers will be held in Intreo centres throughout the country during the week.
