Two Men Shot In Newry
Police have launched an investigation after two men were shot in separate overnight shooting attacks in Newry.
The first incident occurred at Sandys Street at around midnight. Police believe there was a verbal altercation between two men and a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg.
In the second incident, a 32-year-old man is reported to have been forced into a dark coloured car by four masked men and driven to the Armagh Road where he was also shot in the leg.
Both men being treated for their injuries in hospital, however they are not believed to be life threatening.
The Armagh Road currently remains closed and diversions have been put in place.
Superintendent Simon Walls said: "Our investigation into these incidents is at a very early stage and we are working to identify a motive for the shootings and if they are linked. I would appeal for the public’s assistance to help us identify and to take those responsible for these attacks off the streets. I would ask anyone who was in the Ardfield Avenue area of Warrenpoint, the Sandys Street area of Newry or the Armagh Road in Newry last night and witnessed any suspicious activity to contact detectives in Newry on 101. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady said: "Details of exactly what happened in Newry are still emerging but regardless of the circumstances attacks like these are totally unacceptable.
"There can be no justification whatsoever for these type of incidents.
"I utterly condemn these attacks and wish those injured a full and speedy recovery.
"Anyone with information on these attacks should bring it forward to the police so that those responsible can be brought before the courts."

The roadshow, supported by AXA Insurance and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership, aims to educate young drivers about the dangers of irresponsible driving.

Pedestrian Dies Following Road Traffic Collision Ikn West Belfast
A female pedestrian in her 70s has tragically died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast on Saturday, 9th November. The incident occurred on Hannahstown Hill shortly after 6:50pm when two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. Emergency services attended the scene, and the injured pedestrians were taken to hospital.
