SF Cllr Receives Death Threats
A Sinn Féin councillor has received death threats in west Belfast.
The threats made to Cllr Stephen Magennis were directly linked to his work as a public representative, keeping local residents informed and safe following a security alert in the area on Sunday.
Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann condemned the threats.
She said: "There was also a threat made against our party offices.
"The people who issued these threats are cowards and have nothing to offer society. All they bring to our community is disruption and hurt to our young people.
"The threats against Stephen and our party should be lifted immediately.
"The local community has overwhelmingly supported Sinn Féin's peace strategy and our path to a united Ireland.
"We will not be deflected from our work on behalf of the thousands of people who elected us."
