Interface Hosts Craigavon Resource Matching Workshop
Carpet tile manufacturer Interface has hosted the Craigavon Resource Matching workshop.
The workshop is part of its Mission Zero pledge, to eliminate any negative impact the business has on the environment by 2020.
Adrian Marks, Interface Craigavon Factory Manager, said: "We have been collaborating with Invest NI’s Industrial Symbiosis Service to find useful long term solutions within Northern Ireland for manufacturing waste. At the moment we are doing really well and have reduced yarn waste by 50 per cent in the last year alone. This has involved every employee identifying and changing something in their working practices to reduce yarn waste. We are now focussing on finding solutions within Northern Ireland for our other waste resources. While these are currently being recycled elsewhere we strongly believe that the most sustainable solutions for the entire supply chain can be found locally. Already the Industrial Symbiosis Service has found a local source of storage boxes that we were previously getting from England. This is the real advantage of the Industrial Symbiosis Service."
