Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Limavady Magistrates' Court.
Thomas Moore from Limavady claimed Disability Living Allowance totalling £4,141 while exaggerating his disability. He was given a two year conditional discharge.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
£2.5m Regeneration Scheme In Holywood Complete
A £2.5 million regeneration scheme in Co Down is now complete.
The works, in Holywood town centre, included the regeneration of pavements and kerbs and the installation of new street lighting, furniture and planting.
Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, Alderman Alan Graham, said the completion of the project is a "very positive development" for the people of Holywood.
He said: "It has reinvigorated the commercial heart of the town for the benefit of traders, residents and visitors. We are committed to ensuring this investment is a catalyst for further regeneration and, with the comprehensive framework provided by the Holywood Town Centre Masterplan, believe we have a strong foundation upon which to attract new businesses, new homes and new leisure and cultural provision to the town."
Alliance Supports Aims Of Fossil Free QUB Group
Alliance MLA Anna Lo has stated her support for the aims of the Fossil Free QUB group and has called upon the university to review its investment policy.
However, the South Belfast MLA said her party does not endorse any occupation of university buildings, and supports constructive dialogue between students and university management to reach a positive outcome.
She said Queen's University must look at where its money goes, after it was revealed some of the institution's money is invested in oil and gas companies, among others.
"Global warming is one of the greatest challenges facing us, so it is important we accelerate what we are doing to address factors contributing to the damage being done to the planet, including fossil fuels. Such fuels are at the heart of much of our energy supply and also contribute towards many other products, so changing technologies and behaviours are not going to be straightforward.
"That is why it is important large institutions provide strong leadership. Queen's has that opportunity through its investment fund. It must see if it can make realistic changes to both stop funding oil and gas companies, and also help do its part to develop long-term energy targets."

New Community Centre Opens In West Belfast
A new £30,000 Community Hub has opened in west Belfast. The Colin Community Outreach Hub will be used as a temporary information point for the Colin Town Centre and Early Intervention teams to keep the local community updated about the future regeneration of the area, while the Colin Early Parenting team will also use the facility as its base.
