Almost £300m Announced For Transport And Stadium Development Funding
Almost £300 million of investment has been announced for major transport projects and the redevelopment of sports stadiums in Belfast.
Welcoming the news, Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley said: "Today's Executive budget contains significant funding announcements for two key transport schemes in Belfast; the Belfast Rapid Transport project and the Belfast Transport Hub.
"The budget includes £58.9m for the Belfast Rapid Transport project and £143m for the Belfast Transport Hub.
"This means Belfast's transport system will be transformed by more than £200 million in funding.
"The Executive budget also includes a £90m funding package for the upgrade of regional and sub-regional sports stadia, which includes the redevelopment of Casement Park.
"The multimillion redevelopment of Casement park is part of the wider regeneration of west Belfast and a multi-million pound stadium will create a first-class home for Gaelic Games in the city as well as boosting the economy of the area."

Contractor Appointed For Belfast Transport Hub
The development of a multi-million pound transport hub in Belfast has taken a leap forward with a major appointment. Northern Ireland-based contractor GRAHAM has signed on to deliver preparation work at the city centre site on behalf of Translink.

Metro West Application On Track
The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) has just announced its intention to apply to An Bord Pleanála for a Railway Order for Metro West, a light railway from Old Blessington Road, Tallaght to Dardistown, just south of Dublin Airport. The railway order, if granted, would permit RPA to construct, operate and maintain the Metro West light railway.

O'Leary Accuses Government Of Incompetence
Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O'Leary has accused the Government of incompetence in dealing with the 'Hangar 6' jobs furore. Yesterday evening Mr O'Leary and the heads of Aer Lingus and of the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) were before the Oireachtas Transport Committee to discuss a fallout over jobs at the Hangar.
