Staff At Dogs Trust 'Dumbfounded' Over Size Of 11 Week Old Puppy
Staff at the Dogs Trust in Ballymena have been left "dumbfounded" after taking in a giant 11 week old puppy which weighs 7kg – 3kg over the average and double the size of its brothers and sisters.
The Crossbreed, named Butterball, arrived at the Dogs Trust over Christmas, after being abandoned in a field with the rest of his litter. Experts at the rescue shelter believe Butterball and siblings, Rosebud and Mudbud are Rottweiler cross Border Collies.
Dogs Trust Ballymena Rehoming Centre Manager, Sarah Park, said: "All of us at Dogs Trust cannot believe the sized of Butterball. He's a gigantic ball of fluff who is just ginormous compared to his siblings who are both the exact same age and breed as Butterball.
"He's such a wonderful dog. He's super friendly and fun. He does throw his weight around from time to time, and lets all the other puppies know who is boss! But he loves to please and as you can probably tell he LOVES his food."
Butterball is the largest puppy to ever at arrive Dogs Trust Ballymena since it opened in 1970.

Local authorities in Northern Ireland destroyed nearly 4,000 stray dogs last year according to a new survey by Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. The figure equates to an average of 11 dogs a day being put to sleep – an increase of 15% on the previous year and in stark contrast to the 2% decrease seen across the UK as a whole.

Arrests Made Over Cannabis Find
A man and woman have been arrested after police seized cannabis plants and resin in a house in Rostrevor, Co Down. Seventy cannabis plants and 35kgs of cannabis resin were found during the police search on Monday. Four dogs, believed to have been used for badger baiting, were also taken at from the property. The pair are currently being questioned.
