Warning Issued To Parents After Gangs Of Youths Gather In West Belfast

Police in west Belfast have issued a warning to parents to know the whereabouts of their children after groups of youths have recently been gathering in the area.

Gangs of young people have been gathering on the Blacks Road, Lenadoon and Suffolk areas over the past few nights, and police issued the warning to avoid any incidents of antisocial behaviour.

Inspector Mike While said: "As we head towards the school mid-term break, we’re seeing groups of young people gather in the area to enjoy each other's company. Unfortunately, groups of young people can be intimidating for some in the local community. On occasion, boisterous behaviour can lead to anti-social behaviour, which can result in a criminal record and ultimately affect future travel, education and employment opportunities for those involved.

"It is really important that young people understand this, so we are appealing for parents and guardians to talk to them about the danger of getting caught up in the moment and the possible outcomes they could face if they are found committing any offence."
