Strathfoyle Woman Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A 32-year-old woman has been convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' court for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Emma Black, of Clonmeen Drive, Strathfoyle claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3,274 while failing to declare employment. She was given a two year conditional discharge.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Information Sought On Trinity Street Robbery
Police have appealed for information following the robbery of commercial premises in the Trinity Street area of Belfast on Wednesday, 17 February.
At approximately 5.00pm two unknown men entered the premises. One of these males assaulted a member of staff whilst the other male stole a quantity of grey, black and camouflage men's 'Snickers' trousers.
Both men left the scene on foot.
The male member of staff attended hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
Detective Inspector Nigel Snoddy would appeal to anyone who has information about this incident or who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
£25m Ballymena Health Centre Opened
Health Minister, Simon Hamilton, has officially opened the new £25million Ballymena Health and Care Centre.
The new centre on the Braid Valley Hospital site, Cushendall Road in Ballymena, is state-of-the-art centre and the largest to date in Northern Ireland.
The Minister said: "I am delighted to be able to officially open this much needed new facility today. This new £25 million health and care centre will include six GP Practices as well as a mix of locally accessible acute, primary and community care services. In addition to a mental health consultation wing there will also be a separate children's wing for all child associated assessments and clinics. Dental Services will also be provided from the centre. This will enable the local community to receive the best possible healthcare and will provide accessible, local, integrated services from a modern one stop facility."
