Omagh Families Need Answers - DUP

The DUP has said the families of those murdered in the Omagh "deserve answers".

West Tyrone DUP MLA Tom Buchanan was speaking in relation to the collapse of the Seamus Daly case.

He said: "The desire of victims to see justice served for the murder of their loved ones will be understood by everyone. The case against Seamus Daly raised hopes that someone might finally be held accountable on criminal charges charges for 29 murders in Omagh.

"The families of those murdered deserve answers and a full explanation as to why this decision was taken and why they were left to hear about this from media reports.

"The door to justice must always remain open, but it is understandable that many feel this was the best opportunity to see that happen."

Significant Progress Made On Hospital In Co Tyrone

Significant progress is being made on a new £86 million hospital development in Omagh, Co Tyrone.

Construction work is continuing on the Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex and it is expected to be complete at the end of this year.

First Minister Arlene Foster MLA and Health Minister Simon Hamilton MLA recently visited the site.

Arlene Foster said: "I welcome the tremendous progress that has been made on what will be a new state of the art Hospital and Primary Care Complex for the people of Omagh. This construction represents a total investment of over £100m and is further evidence of the Northern Ireland Executive’s commitment to provide the best healthcare services available to the people of Northern Ireland."

The new hospital will provide for 40 intermediate care beds and will include a range of services such as a 24 renal dialysis unit, a Health and Care Centre including GP accommodation and an Urgent Care and Treatment Centre. New Police Video Campaign Launched

Alliance Justice Minister David Ford has helped unveil a new campaign showing the human face of police officers.

The Police Federation of Northern Ireland's #WeAreYou initiative is made up of three short films which will be screened in cinemas and streamed on social media platforms. The films show the pressures faced by officers as they combine the challenges of their job with everyday problems.

Mr Ford said: "These films are stark and thought-provoking. They illustrate the daily challenges faced by officers who leave their homes to confront situations that demand courage and split-second decision-making.

"For many people the day ahead may be mapped out and generally routine, but our police officers can never be quite sure what they will have to face when they go to work. They serve the community while at the same time balancing the everyday life pressures and problems that we all have to deal with.

"These brave officers are parents, spouses, children, siblings, friends and neighbours. I urge people to look beyond the uniform and give them the respect and understanding they deserve."
