Co Antrim Firm To Create 11 New Jobs

A firm based in Toomebridge, Co Antrim, has announced it is to create 11 new jobs.

Edgewater is to invest £1 million to rebrand and refit its manufacturing facility.

The firm provides interior fitout, refurbishment and specialist joinery services to the hotel, commercial and residential sectors.

Enterprise Minister Jonathan Bell said: "Edgewater has ambitious plans to grow its export sales to over £40 million in the next 18 months. This major investment in its premises and staff will give it the infrastructure it needs to achieve that.

"The 11 new high value jobs, which will have salaries well above the Northern Ireland private sector median, will contribute over £430,000 to the economy annually and are excellent news for the local manufacturing sector. The company is being supported by Invest Northern Ireland, which has offered it over £96,000 to support the job creation."

Firmus Energy To Cut Gas Prices By Over 9%

Firmus Energy is to cut its prices by over 9% for over 50,000 customers living the the Greater Belfast area.

The firm has confirmed it will reduce its gas prices by 9.75%.

Michael Scott, managing director for firmus energy, said: "Along with our excellent customer service we have consistently offered the lowest tariff prices for domestic customers over the last number of years and are delighted that this will continue.

"We monitor all costs and global wholesale fuel prices on a daily basis to ensure our prices offer the best value possible and any savings are passed on as soon as we can to our customers."

Richard Williams, Head of Energy at the Consumer Council welcomed the announcement.

He said: "We would encourage all gas customers in the Greater Belfast area to shop around to get the best possible price and service. Even switching payment or billing method can save money. We have lots of resources to help, from our online gas price comparison tool to our step by step guide to the switching process."

Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Magherafelt Magistrates' Court.

Andrew Cunningham claimed Pension Credit totalling £8,099 while failing to declare employment. He was given 120 hours community service.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

firmus energy has announced a 38.18% increase to the natural gas tariff in the Ten Towns Network area from the 3rd December 2021. The energy company said that the price increases are a result of further increases in global wholesale gas prices.

Firmus Energy Confirms 35% Natural Gas Price Increase
Firmus Energy has announced a 35% increase in natural gas prices from 01 October 2021. The energy company has said that the price rise in the result of "substantial rises in global wholesale gas prices" and said that the change in tariff will mean an extra £3.33 per week on to the average household bill, bringing prices back to 2018/2019 levels.
