Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash In Co Antrim
A man has died following a motorcycle crash in Co Antrim.
The motorcycle is believed to have hit a telegraph pole on the Glenariffe Road at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
The 32-year-old victim was travelling with a friend who was riding a second motorcycle. The second man was not involved in the collision.
Inspector Colin Shaw is appealing for witnesses to come forward: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have seen a pair of motorcyclists travelling in the direction of Ballymena prior to the time of the collision.
"Witnesses can get in touch with police by calling the non-emergency number 101."
SDLP East Antrim Councillor, Margaret Anne McKillop, said: "It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of a 31-year-old man on Saturday Night in Glenarrif. The tragic accident happened on the Glenariffe Road just after 6pm when his motorcycle struck a telegraph pole.
"As I understand it, the man was travelling with another motorcyclist who was not involved in the accident. The man was taken to hospital following the accident but later passed away.
"I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends following this tragic news."
